SFSU MSP's Digtal Video Intensive students had the rare opportunity to shoot, edit and deliver an 80 minute concert video to air on DIRECTV including continuous showings on Jet Blue Airlines.

This first-of-its-kind project was made possible through the support of numerous sponsors:

Apple Computer, Atto Technology, Canon, Clear-com, Cyber3, Denis E. Kellman Esq., Monaco, Poskat Enterprises, Inc., RCA Records-BMG, Seagate Technologies, Spring Communications, StorCase Technologies and Villa Montalvo, and DeepSouth Entertainment

Spearheaded by Lana Posner of Poskat Enterprises and Mark Altekruse of Apple Computers, the idea was to create the first student-driven commercial project for a major label and cable TV. They immediately contacted SFSU's Craig Abaya, who'd been known around Apple for his for developing real-world training programs including his work on Apple's Digital Campus.

The online production journal kept the nationwide sponsors and collaborators up-to-date on the San Francisco team's progress. After the concerts, Craig linked the journal to a post-production equivalent.
After initial meetings with Mark and Lana, Craig went to work establising the crew including DVI faculty to help mentor the student team through each stage of the production. In addition to several pre-production meetings, teleconferneces with sponsors, crew and management, Craig kept everyone informed with an online production journal.

The mentor crew was comprised of SFSU MSP faculty and staff who worked with the Digital Video Intensive.
